What Is Going on with the Cable Company?

Along with poor signal quality on several area TV stations, Suddenlink now refuses to show the NFL channel, which will carry both the Insight Bowl with Texas Tech and the Dallas vs Atlanta game.

The explanation is that the NFL channel is asking too much money.

Yet, both Dish Network and DirecTV carry this channel.

Why can they afford it and the cable company can’t?

Don’t we deserve better?

Suddenlink says they can't afford to pay the price and they will have to raise rates for everyone else in order to get the NFL network.
I don't watch football; I didn't go to Tech and I hate the cowboys.
What do I care about the NFL channel?

Hey Cowboy hater,
What if Suddenlink wouldn't get the Food Network because they asked too much money.
Then you would be singing a different tune.
There is no competition in Snyder for cable.
There is only one company.
If there was competition they would have to pay attention to what the consumers want or lose business.

There is competition: Satellite.
If you want to get the NFL network, sign up for Dish.

Sooner or later I think cable will have to get the NFL network. It will be having too many NFL games to ignore.
The bigger issue is that of competition and customer service.
The poor reception is a case in point.
Until recently, satellite did not carry local channels.
No competition, no service is often what happens.

Why don't we start a petition drive for the NFL channel?

Suddenlink is showing the free preview of the NFL Channel (on Cable Channel 40) through Saturday. I'm a football fan, but I haven't seen anything I'd pay much extra for - chopped-up replays of last week's games don't do much for me. Check it out and I expect if Suddenlink gets a number of calls from people who would want the NFL channel, they'd consider adding it. It sure better be cheap, as the NFL has said that any cable channel that picks it up has to add it to their basic tier service, not an optional add-on like HBO.
